What are your payment terms?
We normally charge a flat rate. But the rate is dependable of the combination of services included to fit your needs and your budget. We charge a 50% deposit to begin designs and final payment is due before the release of printed or digital designs. We accept all major cards, debit cards, and bank transfers.
How does the design process works?
As a brief generalisation, our design process follows the steps:
- Start with your contact to submit your project specifics to us.
- We go through meetings to discuss the details of the project. Client input is important to make the project a success.
- With the requirements established (the Brief), we send you a quote/proposal.
- Once you have accepted the price quote, we ask you to deliver content and photos for the website and we begin work on the project by researching ideas. The first draft is worked into visual designs with the latest Adobe Creative Cloud technology for graphic/web design software. The design is forwarded to you for feedback.
- We listen to your input and offer solutions and advice to issues that arise. There will be a CMS for your feedback. Your comments are essential in this first round of concepts.
- There is a series of design, feedback, redesign, feedback cycles as changes are integrated into a refined design. This process continues until we receive your approval.
- With the approved final design, we prepare the final files for delivery.
- We send you an invoice.
- You provide payment.
- Website or graphic designs are delivered and copyrights transferred to you as needed. Final files are delivered to you. Training is given.
How long does it take to deliver the project?
Generally, most websites take between 4-8 weeks, depending on the scope and your deliverance of material for the content and images. Some websites require mock-ups to be approved what will require more time.
Smaller projects such as logos and business cards take 3 to 4 to weeks to be delivered. Full-scale branding services take longer, depending on the combination of services included.
What is included in the design project?
There are a number of phases so that the project runs smoothly and is concluded properly. We review the design brief, research and development, proof presentations, and project finalization to ensure that every detail has been covered. The use of the CMS is essential in this review/feedback process.
What is the process for getting a logo designed?
For all our logo design projects, we complete 3 initial draft concepts for your feedback and reviews on the concept. The final logo is supplied to you as master files, in colour and mono sent to you via email. The files will be in JPEG, PDF and PNG files. A single page style guide is included showing the typefaces used and palette for your new logo design.
Who owns the logo?
The logo was created to be used in different kinds of media and advertising, including websites, business cards, signage, and any other place where you want to put your logo on. After the logo is created and paid, the logo will be owned exclusively by you and the copyright will be transferred to you. You will be able to reproduce it, sell merchandise, trademark it and do as you please.
Do you offer rush services?
It depends on our schedule. However additional fees will apply.
Do you have referral benefits?
Refer a new client and upon completion of their service, you will receive 10% off of your next design project.
Do you offer SEO services?
The website package includes Basic SEO services, such as submitting your site to Google, Bing, and Pinterest, keyword research, optimised page titles, descriptions and meta words. We do not use any black hat SEO tactics, and we will advise you how to make the best use of your content marketing strategies to direct traffic to your website.
Is the final design mine? Who owns the copyright for the designs you produce?
You do! You get all your files to use on virtually anything you please. Normally, you will get several sizes of logos depending on the project and a favicon for your website. You will receive any fonts used, or the location where they can be downloaded and your colour palette. We reserve the right to use the project we have made for you in our Portfolio. After the project has been delivered you are free to offer it to another person to update it and maintain it. It is yours. You can change it as you want.
Technically, we are the creator. The copyright for the website design belongs to us. By our contract, you have permission to use the elements and designs created for your website only, whether you continue to work with us or not.
Use in other projects will be subject to additional fees. Use of imagery that does not belong to you is subject to the owner of that image copyright and normally you will not have permission to use it anywhere else.
Final logo files can be delivered by a variety of means. Files can be emailed to you, or posted on our secure website for you to download, or can be sent to you on CD or USB. Process of deliverance varies a bit depending on each project requirements.
Once we have received the final payment, we will supply all electronic files on a CD or USB. For print jobs, you will also receive high-resolution PDFs, which can be taken to a printer of your choice or we can organize the printing job for you.
Will I be able to update on my computer?
Yes. Our websites projects are built with the WordPress content management system platform, allowing flexibility in the management of the site. Two-hour training section will be offered.
We offer several maintenance plans to choose to suit every need and every budget. It depends on what you prefer to do or not. Regular websites updates are recommended for the user’s best experience and website SEO. Each case will have to be discussed to decide the best option to take.
What if I don’t like it?
We continue to work with you to refine your design until you are satisfied. But during the process, before we get to the first draft, we will have interviews and a questionnaire that you answer to help us get a feel for the preferred looks and we will establish a number of reviews after each important step.
Yet, if we collaborate on a project, and in the end, we do not arrive at a result with which you are perfectly satisfied, we along with you can finish the contract. You will be asked to agree to accept payment for any purchased services or products. Any other partial deposits or payments will be returned to you, less any financial institution fees. The copyrights to your design project remain with us, while you maintain the copyright over your company or product names used in the designs. This means that we could theoretically use or resell the design to another client. You will also be asked to sign and warrant that you will not use any creative or interim designs created or presented to you as part of our design process together.
How many revisions do I get?
We build revision time into the planning of the project, depending on its size and requirements so that you get the best graphic design service. Normally, the allowance of 3 sets of client reviews to each project. You are free to schedule more than 3 sets of changes, but for all quoted projects any additional changes will be charged at our hourly rate.
How do I check on the progress of my project job during the design process?
We present the different sizes of logos to the client at the black-and-white stage, then again at the colour stage, and wait for final approval before we save out all the files for you. You will own the logo. We do save your work in case you lose the files or need them sent again but will never use it again for other clients.
What is the client’s involvement in the design process?
We listen to our clients from the start and encourage them to bring in any samples, colour combinations or swatches, and ideas they may already have to help us get an idea of their taste style before starting to work. The client will be asked to approve certain colours and fonts before work continues. For graphic work, once the design project is ready for print we will submit a final proof for the customer’s approval before submitting it to production. Once a job is in the printing stage, the job cannot be cancelled. At the conclusion of a project, the client will receive any artwork in various formats if payment was made for design services.
I have a computer and Microsoft Word, why can’t I do the website by myself.
But having a graphic designer with training and experience as a visual communicator and problem solver to combine your content with elements of colour, typography, line, space, shape and balance will create high-quality communications pieces for your business. The designer works with you to explore diverse options and design directions to answer your particular communications challenge.
A graphic designer will also prepare the technical requirements of your finished project and prepare it to the specifications of a printer, magazine, web host, television studio or any other output medium ensuring the painless output of a final finished product.
Do you offer printed materials?
Yes. We work along with some printers that will provide you with high-quality material at affordable prices. Business cards, flyers, brochures, and so on.
Do you keep my designs on file?
For a period of 6 months following your project, we keep your design project in an active folder in case you lose or damage your files, or require any follow-up work. After this period, we archive your files. Any retrieval at this point will incur a nominal cost.
Can this design project be done for clients living abroad or long distance from Moss51 Art & Design?
Of course. Distance is not a consideration as long as you have access to the internet and email. We offer remote graphic design. And you deal directly to us. No intermediaries. Since our work relies on powerful design software we can communicate with remote clients without any friction. Interviews can be done on Skype, WhatsApp or any other global free-voice IP and messaging service.
Remote graphic design is the new normal in the creative industry now.
